Grassroots Peacebuilding Key to Lasting Security – TSBPCM Chair

The Chairman of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management (TSBPCM), Bishop Innocent Rubiruka Solomon, has said that the administration of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas is implementing a grassroots-driven strategy aimed at ending violent conflicts and improving security across the state.

Speaking at the Southern Security Consultation Summit held in Wukari, Bishop Solomon noted that insecurity often stems from unresolved conflicts, communal disagreements, and a lack of harmony among ethnic, religious, and community groups.
He explained that the Bureau’s approach focuses on collaboration with local government councils to establish peace committees, build the capacity of community stakeholders, and deploy Early Warning and Early Response mechanisms across all 168 wards of the state.
According to him, the initiative is already receiving support from development partners who are working with the state government to strengthen peacebuilding efforts and prevent conflicts before they escalate.
Bishop Solomon expressed confidence that the strategy would promote lasting peace, social cohesion, and sustainable development across Taraba State.
