6 Brigade Commander Decorates Promoted Officers, Calls for Higher Professional Standards.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, has decorated newly promoted senior officers, urging them to enhance their professional competence in line with the demands of their new ranks.

    The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations,  Lt Mohammed Umar noted in a statement that  the investiture ceremony, held on Thursday, 9 April 2026, at the C2C Event Center in Jalingo, Taraba State, saw officers elevated to the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel and Wing Commander officially adorned with their new insignia in a colourful event attended by military and civilian dignitaries.

    Addressing the officers, Brigadier General Akaliro emphasised the importance of continuous self-development, noting that their promotion comes with increased responsibilities and expectations. He charged them to improve their skill sets and demonstrate leadership qualities required at higher levels of service.

    “To whom much is given, much is expected,” he stated, urging the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication and professionalism.

    The Brigade Commander also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for approving the promotions, describing it as a recognition of the officers’ hard work and commitment. He encouraged officers who were not promoted to remain focused and resilient, assuring them that future opportunities would arise.

    He further acknowledged the critical role of families and spouses, commending them for their unwavering support and sacrifices. He urged them to continue supporting and praying for the officers as they take on greater responsibilities.

    Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Lieutenant Colonel Yahaya Mohammed expressed gratitude to God for the milestone and thanked the Chief of Army Staff for the elevation. He assured that the officers would discharge their duties with renewed commitment, professionalism, and a sense of responsibility.

    The promoted officers include Lieutenant Colonel Yahaya Mohammed, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Nasiru, Lieutenant Colonel Adeola Olaleye Adebayo, Lieutenant Colonel VS Aminu, and Wing Commander Domshak Titus Zakka, who were elevated from the ranks of Major and Squadron Leader.

    The ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including retired senior officers such as Brigadier General JA Faransa (Rtd) and the Director of the Department of State Services in Taraba State, Mr Hygenius Ngele. Also in attendance were senior military officers, family members, friends, and well-wishers.
