Taraba Peace Bureau Deploys Dialogue Facilitators to Address communal Tensions.

The Chairman of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management, Bishop Solomon Innocent, has led a team of ten trained dialogue facilitators to begin community engagement aimed at strengthening dialogue as a tool for resolving conflicts in parts of Taraba State.

The facilitators who are part of the 30 trained by the Bureau in partnership with NEEM FOUNDATION and GIZ, commenced the initiative in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, focusing on the Wurkun and Karimjo communities following recent and recurring clashes that have strained relations between the two groups.
Speaking during the engagement, Bishop Solomon Innocent emphasized the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts and rebuilding trust among communities.
He noted that the deployment of trained facilitators is part of the Bureau’s proactive approach to addressing tensions before they escalate into violence.
The Chairman further called on community leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders in the Wurkun and Karimjo communities who have lived together for decades, intermarried, born children that share same heritage to embrace peaceful coexistence and commit to sustained dialogue for the benefit of the two communities and beyond.

He assured the communities of the Bureau’s continued support in fostering understanding, reconciliation and lasting peace across the state.
The intervention which forms part of the implementation strategy of her 5- year plan will cover three communities in the three senatorial zones and will kick starts the Bureau’s strategic efforts aimed at promoting sustainable peace across Taraba State through mediation, community dialogue and conflict prevention initiatives.
