Interior Minister Reaffirms Partnership with NUJ

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to promote transparency, effective communication, and public engagement on internal security and citizenship matters.

    Speaking during a courtesy visit by the NUJ National President, Alhassan Yahya, in Abuja, the Minister described the Ministry as “the Ministry of the people,” stressing that its responsibilities directly affect all Nigerians.

    He emphasized the critical role of the media in democratic governance, noting that proactive information sharing is essential to building public trust.

    Tunji-Ojo welcomed the Union’s proposal for regular press briefings and structured engagements to keep citizens informed about ongoing reforms.

    Earlier, the NUJ President Comr. Alhassan Yahya, said the visit aimed to strengthen institutional ties and explore collaboration, including quarterly ministerial briefings and capacity-building initiatives for journalists in security reporting.

    Both parties agreed that sustained dialogue would enhance public confidence and support national cohesion.
