Taraba Peace Bureau Chairman Visits Archbishop Kaigama, Seeks Support for Statewide CAN Conference

The Chairman of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management, Bishop Innocent Solomon, has paid a courtesy visit to the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, His Grace, Most Rev. Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, during which he lauded the Archbishop’s longstanding commitment to peacebuilding and national unity while extending a formal invitation to serve as a guest speaker at the forthcoming Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) 3-Day Statewide Conference in Taraba State.

Bishop Solomon, who also chairs the Organising Committee of the conference themed “Church and the State,” met with the respected cleric at his office in Abuja, where he commended Archbishop Kaigama for his consistent advocacy for peaceful coexistence, interfaith dialogue, and national development.
According to Bishop Solomon, Archbishop Kaigama has remained one of Nigeria’s foremost voices for peace, reconciliation, and justice, whose leadership has continued to inspire hope across religious and ethnic divides.
“Archbishop Kaigama has demonstrated in several ways that the unity, peace, stability, and progress of Nigeria remain paramount in both his heart and his ministry,” Bishop Solomon said.
He noted that the forthcoming conference is designed to strengthen the relationship between the Church and the State while promoting spiritual revival, peaceful coexistence, and socio-economic transformation in Taraba State. He expressed confidence that Archbishop Kaigama’s wealth of experience in peacebuilding and nation-building would greatly enrich discussions at the event.
Archbishop Kaigama is widely recognised for his remarkable contributions to conflict resolution and interfaith engagement in Nigeria.
He founded the Dialogue, Reconciliation and Peace Centre in Jos in 2011 and has served as Chairman of the Plateau State Inter-Religious Council for Peace and Harmony, as well as Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau State Chapter.
The Archbishop also served as a member of the Federal Government’s Solomon Lar Presidential Committee established to address the ethno-religious crises in Plateau State.
Beyond Nigeria, he has continued to champion interfaith collaboration and peace initiatives on the global stage and has authored several books on peacebuilding and national cohesion.
The organisers disclosed that the dates and full programme of the CAN 3-Day Statewide Conference on “Church and the State” will be announced in due course.
