In a statewide broadcast on Friday, the governor described the defection as a carefully considered decision reached after wide consultations. He said the move was necessary to ensure greater stability, development, and prosperity for the state.

Fintiri recalled the strong mandates he received in the 2019 and 2023 governorship elections, noting that his administration remains committed to upholding the trust placed in it by the people.

Highlighting achievements under his leadership, the governor pointed to improvements in security, construction of roads, schools, hospitals, markets, and housing projects, as well as investments in education, water supply, and electricity. He also referenced youth and women empowerment programmes and the creation of new chiefdoms, emirates, and districts to promote inclusion and grassroots development. According to him, recent political developments at the national level made a strategic realignment imperative. He said aligning with the APC would position Adamawa State to better leverage the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in social welfare, infrastructure, housing, and inclusive economic growth.

Fintiri stressed that his defection was not motivated by personal ambition or political convenience, but by the need to reposition Adamawa within mainstream national politics for broader opportunities. He disclosed that the move includes the entire political structure of his administration across the state’s 21 local government areas and 226 wards, covering both elected and appointed officials. The governor urged his supporters to register with the APC and assured residents that his administration would continue delivering on its development agenda, regardless of party platform.

Describing the move as bold and forward-looking, Fintiri called on citizens to sustain their trust in his leadership as he works toward a more prosperous Adamawa State.
