Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved a major infrastructure boost aimed at strengthening electricity supply across parts of Adamawa State, with the State Executive Council endorsing a combined sum of ₦762 million for critical projects.

The approval includes ₦598 million for the rerouting of electricity from Wuro Nyanka in Shelleng Local Government Area to Borrong in Demsa Local Government Area, a move described by officials as both strategic and transformative.
Briefing journalists after the council meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the project will establish a more reliable and sustainable power supply route for the Borrong community.
According to Iliya, the new transmission alignment will utilize towers from Wuro Nyanka, effectively eliminating the long-standing challenge of routing electricity across the River Benue.
The current crossing has been prone to disruptions, making the new approach a critical intervention for stability and efficiency.
“This project will provide an alternative and dependable electricity supply to Borrong,” Iliya stated, adding that completion is expected within three months.
In a related development, the council also approved ₦164 million for the procurement of an official vehicle for the Ministry of Environment.
The contract was awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited, with delivery scheduled within three weeks.
The decisions underscore the Fintiri administration’s continued focus on infrastructure development and service delivery, particularly in underserved communities.
Observers note that the electricity project, if delivered on schedule, could significantly boost economic activities and improve living standards in the affected areas.
Residents in Borrong have long grappled with inconsistent power supply, and the new initiative is being widely seen as a long-awaited solution that could mark a turning point for the community.
