Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has called on Nigerians to embrace tolerance, unity, and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the country mark the Eid al-Fitr celebration.

In a Sallah message issued on Thursday, the governor stressed that unity across ethnic and religious lines remains critical to building a stronger and more cohesive Nigeria, especially in the face of prevailing socio-economic and security challenges.
Fintiri urged citizens to uphold the virtues of love, forgiveness, and brotherhood cultivated during the holy month of Ramadan, noting that these values are essential for national rebirth and sustainable development.
“Nigeria can only make meaningful progress when its citizens place a premium on peaceful coexistence, fairness, and mutual respect,” the governor said.
While expressing concern over recent security developments in parts of the country, Fintiri appealed to traditional and religious leaders to intensify efforts in promoting peace and vigilance before, during, and after the festivities.
He also advised residents to remain security-conscious and avoid overcrowded places, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding lives and property.The governor lauded the people of Adamawa State for sustaining peaceful coexistence despite their diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, describing it as a model for national unity.
He further commended security agencies for their role in maintaining stability across the state, expressing confidence that greater achievements could be recorded through continued collaboration between citizens and security forces.
Acknowledging the economic difficulties facing many Nigerians, Fintiri maintained that his administration has recorded significant developmental strides over the past seven years.
He called on residents to continue supporting government policies and programmes aimed at inclusive growth, assuring that no segment of society would be left behind.
Fintiri reiterated that Eid-el-Fitri symbolizes devotion to Allah and compassion toward fellow humans, urging Nigerians to extend acts of kindness and national service beyond the festive period.
