The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was held in Shuwa, Madagali Local Government Area, where the governor described the projects as a major milestone in his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and inclusive economic growth.

The projects include a 2.5-megawatt isolated solar mini-grid in Gulak, Madagali LGA, a 315-kilowatt peak mini-grid in Shuwa, Madagali LGA, a 265-kWp project in Kwakwaah, Hong LGA; a 216-kWp facility in Kuva Gaya, Hong LGA, and a 170-kWp mini-grid in Dirdiu, Ganye LGA.
Fintiri said the projects would provide electricity to thousands of households, schools, healthcare facilities, markets, places of worship and small businesses in the benefiting communities.
He noted that reliable electricity remains a critical driver of economic development, adding that the projects would improve healthcare delivery, enhance education, promote digital inclusion, strengthen agricultural productivity and create employment opportunities.
The governor traced the initiative to the Renewable Energy Roundtable organised by the Rural Electrification Agency on March 3, 2025, describing the event as the turning point that paved the way for the implementation of the projects.
He commended Startimes Nigeria Limited, the project developer, for partnering with the state government to deliver renewable energy infrastructure to rural communities.
Fintiri also expressed appreciation to the Rural Electrification Agency for facilitating the projects and acknowledged the financial support of the World Bank under its rural electrification programme.
He further praised the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies promoting investment in renewable energy and rural electrification.
The governor equally lauded traditional rulers, community leaders, women and youth groups in the benefiting communities for providing the support and peaceful environment needed for the successful commencement of the projects.
He urged the contractors to ensure timely completion while maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and encouraged them to engage local workers during implementation.
Fintiri also called on residents of Shuwa, Gulak, Kwakwaah, Kuva Gaya and Dirdiu to take ownership of the facilities by protecting them against vandalism to ensure their long-term sustainability.
He expressed confidence that the projects would stimulate local economies, improve living standards and accelerate socio-economic development across the benefiting communities and Adamawa State as a whole.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, representatives of the Rural Electrification Agency, Startimes Nigeria Limited, development partners and other stakeholders.
