The Pastor in charge of EKAN Gospel Bible Church, Rev. Ayuba Ardo Tijos has commended the Governor of Taraba State His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas for taking a bold and compassionate step by forwarding a Housing Regulation Bill to the Taraba State House of Assembly aimed at regulating house rent in the state to reduce the hardship faced by tenants.

Rev Ayuba noted that the initiative is a clear demonstration of responsible leadership and a commitment to the welfare of the people of Taraba State.

“At a time when many citizens are facing economic challenges, policies that seek to ease the burden of housing costs are both timely and necessary,” he stated.

According to him, the action of Gov Kefas is consistent with the spirit and provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, particularly Section 14(2)(b), which emphasized that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government stressing that by proposing legislation that seeks to protect tenants from excessive and arbitrary rent increases, the Governor was fulfilling this constitutional obligation.

He noted further that the Governor’s initiative reflects the broader responsibility of government to promote social justice, equity, and fair economic practices within society. “Housing is a basic human necessity, and policies that ensure fairness between landlords and tenants contribute significantly to social stability and economic balance.

“I applaud His Excellency for this progressive and people-oriented initiative. It is indeed a step in the right direction and a clear indication of leadership that listens and responds to the needs of the citizens,”he stated.

He therefore, urged the Honorable members of the Taraba State House of Assembly to give the bill the necessary consideration and support it deserves so that it can quickly translate into relief for the people.
